Highways closed, roads washed out, basements flooded some colapsed. Tornado warnings and rain storms. Got hay to cut and been waiting too long for the RAIN RAIN Rain to give use a break, we have recieved more than 30 inches of rain since 4/15. Need floation device to cut hay(joke). Pics taken this evening. First pic is pasture, shrub looking things are 25 foot trees. Second one is overview of little creek after last nights rain. Sorry, not complaining just frustrated.

Feel your frustration. Too much rain and flooding always makes for a long recovery period. Here in central Kansas, we have been harvesting wheat since last Friday, and each day has been hot and dry (great wheat harvesting weather), although we did have a couple of threats of rain earlier this week, and there was rain just a couple of counties to the north and north/west. Hope things get better for you. Or, as I have heard so many times, "things are so bad they can only get better".

Unfortunately if everyone gets adequate rain and has a good/great crop, prices will plummet and almost everyone will suffer. Those with better marketing skills will have presold or hedged, will escape. Unfortunately that is the scenaro when you are given a price for your product rather than setting a price. With the current system it is better to have crop insurance and have some significant areas fail each year. The failed areas can collect insurance and the others sell a large crop at higher prices. It would be great if somehow we could rotate the drought areas to even out the good/bad years but someone else controls that issue and those with irrigation would screw up that idea. So until the market demand catches up with our ability to produce, it remains fortunate for many that unfortunately everyone doesn't have a great crop.
I've also had too much rain and some corn will be over 200 bu/acre and some (too much) more like 50.
