I am trying to fix my HF, the hydraulic pump control valve. Top cover is off, side covers off, and I unbolted the bottom plate. I pulled the PTO shaft out about 3 inches, but I can't get anything apart any further. Or back together again for that matter. How does the pump detach from the bottom plate? And how do I get the shaft to go back thru the pump? the pump hits the brace on the front of the case but the shaft won't go far enough to engage the tranny.

Thanks for the help in advance.

if it's the same as a to30 the pump is part of the bottom plate, you have to fully remove the pto shaft and pull the plate towards the rear and down,..

Thanks, and therein lies the problem. I can't seem to extract the PTO shaft from the case. The shaft pulled out about three inches and stopped. like the cams on the pump are keeping it from coming out any further. I bolted the base cover back into position but the shaft will not slide in or out. I was reading some of the strings and I guess that there are a couple of dowels I have to remove? I'll be glad when I get my manual.

another thought, if it's the same as to30...mine had a twisted pto spline, had to cut the pto shaft to get pump out,...not as hard as it sounds but still a pain,...if that's your prob. let me know and i'll tell you what i did....
