getting ready to take my small dog into canada. Beside rabies parvo and letter of health anything else I should have to prevent any problem at border? The above mentioned items should get us back home ok. Also is there any temp health insurance for wife and myself that we can purchase in canada??

You're probably best off to buy insurance through your bank. Believe it or not, banks will sell it to you. Our local CIBC bank sells us insurance when we travel stateside.

Sounds good for the dog. When I travel to the States I purchase travel insurance here before I leave, I would think blue cross or a company like them in the States would sell travel insurance to cover you in Canada.

CAA also sells Health Insurance going to the USA.

I would think if he had the American version they would sell it.

For the dog, just a current vaccination record should be sufficient, rabies should be a part of that of course.
Funny, I was at Canada customs the other day and there was someone there bringing his dogs in to Canada and apparently his vet had given him some story about them needing something special before coming in for which he charged extra. Custom's official told him it sounded like a money grab and that all they required was vaccination certificate.
As others have said, banks sell medical insurance here in Canada for travel outside of Canada. Any time I have been out of country for an extended period I have purchased it from the bank.
