Weeds on fence line

Any of you have a cheap solution to kill weeds and grass under a wire fence? Mine grows up and interferes with the electric strand and in the winter the snow on them pulls the wire down. Roundup here is $35.00 a litre. Oil is messy and diesel smells. Any easy thing to use?
Thanks, Don from Canada

Bladex has been off the market for years. I bought my generic roundup for a bit over $12 a gallon this year. Check with your local ag chemical supplier.

What are you fencing in? When my fences get ugly, I don't replace the round bale when it's gone and feed once a day for a few days. Horses clean better than I ever could.

i go to the local feed mill and buy the generic brand of round up it is called honcho it works really good and cost $45.00 a 2 1/2 gallon jug it takes 5 oz. per gallon of water so it goes a long way.works great for me i use a 3-point sprayer on my tractor with a 10 ft hand held hose i just drive and aim it at the fenceline.

You must be buying homeowner grade Roundup? Even here... I think we have some of the most expensive Roundup prices in the country and it doesn't come near 35 bucks a liter. Mabey 15 for WeatherMax but you should get a generic original for a bit better than half that 'here'.............. but you need an applicators licence to buy any of it.

Roundup is still the cheapest way to control crap in a fenceline unless you want to mow it several times a year with a weedwacker.

Generic roundup at Rural King is $39 for 2/12 gal. I forget the name but it works good .

Raise the bottom wire if possible and use 24d for weeds and scrub. the cattle will eat the grass under a fence very nicely if the bottom wire is 20 inches or higher off the ground. That makes a diffrence on how short they have to graze. If there in 2 ft tall grass all year it won't work.

Get the generic glyphosphate- but be sure you get the 41% concentrate- use 1/4 cup (2 ounces) per gallon of water in a backpack sprayer. As noted below, its about 39 bucks for 2 1/2 gallons. For spot spraying and spraying under the fenceline, it will last you the rest of your life, and I don't even know how old you are.

I use a weedeater, then roundup a little later.Back in the early 50's my dad used me and a old pair of hand operated sheep shears.

$35/L??? Where in canada are you?

I can get a 10L jug of round-up weathermax... the strong stuff... for about $90. That's $9/L. ya, i do have my pesticide licence...
mix it 60-1... last ya forever.
