Today we mark the passing of three years since the death of 9 firefighters. They were killed when the roof collapsed on the burning Sofa Super Store. They went in believing there was some one still trapped inside. I was friends with one of them as we belonged to the same church. The rest I had met as they helped to renovate an old warehouse into a Church. They would come and work in there spare time. They are sorely missed by family, friends, and community.

Fire fighters and Police personal rank right up there with Military Vet's, in my book. They who are 100% volunteer to serve and protect, then will give their all when called upon, have all my respect.
Many Vet's were not volunteer but served when assigned their post. That is honerable in its self. But to run into a burning building because there is possibly a life to be saved goes above and beyond the call IMHO...
Lets all stop today, to give thanks for all who selflessly serve, and pray for the families of those who have given their all.

That"s tough. I agree that Firemen and Police officers are in there with Vets.

Takes a lot of courage to run into a burning building full of smoke, darkness and heat to find someone you don"t even know and try to get them to safety. They are huge in my eyes.

I saw in the paper today, that the Fire Inspector from here is taking the job in Charleston.. The article discussed that tragedy.
