Just reading the paper tonight and it (PJ Star)said Nebraska will be playing football in the Big 10 in a couple of years.

Why? and where have I been?

You must have been paying attention to more important things like family, work, religion and maybe even a little politics. Instead of paying attention to something as stupid and meaningless as Sports.

Nebraska will be playing in B10 in 2011. Going where the money is - Big Ten brings in big bucks with their network and expanding into new markets will make the network stronger. Pac-10 is adding teams as well (Colorado and Utah) and would like to pick up Texas. If Texas goes, Big12 will likely fold.

It"s all about money.
Nebraska (and Oklahoma) used to rule football in the old Big 8 league, but ever since they went to the Big 12 league, Oklahoma and Texas has been getting all the attention and money.
The magic carrot was waved in front of the huskers and they bailed, as well as Colorado.
As far as bringing anything to the Big 12 basketball table, they other teams were happy to see Nebraska and Colorado leave, as their basketball has always stunk.
Has any other team jumped ship, the Big 12 league would have sunk, but they all now claim that each remaining team will get more money than before.
They mentioned something about academics in all this, but be real. No college president really cares about academics.
Check the graduation rates of a lot of the sports teams........

The Huskers bailed after the Big12 members would not make a long term commitment with each actually signing over TV money rights for years into the future. Without that, it was all blowing smoke. The smaller schools just paid off Texas to remain in the Big12 for a while..........and the rich get richer.

Good riddance. If they think moving to the Big 10 will bring back the great football years, forget it. Playing against the likes of Ohio State, the Michigan teams, Penn State, and so on, will probably have them in the cellar for a while.

There is no doubt that Colorado will be the Pac 10 cellar dweller elevating another team out of it.

As a student the University of Nebraska, it always infuriated me when students worked just as hard as any athlete to prepare themselves for performing or academic competitions, yet when you opened a newspaper there were six pages of sports and not one word about academics.

Seems strange that K-State will get almost double the TV money they were getting before before Nebraska left.

Apparently the Big 10 needed another cupcake team to help their "good" teams records. Playing Nebraska without Suh next season is going to be like playing KU last season.

I enjoy college sports as much as anybody but there is waaay to much emphisis put on sports at all levels. Academics shouldn't subsidize sports, if a sport can't support itself then it should be dropped, including title 9 sports. College football should be called what it is, minor league for the NFL and be funded as such. On a closing note.... SEC RULES

Yea, you just keep thinking that and see what happens! I think the Fuskers are back on track with the new Pelini staff.

One reason SUH was so good was that they had to worry about Crick, too. He will be missed though, what a great player and person, too.

No, NE will have a chance against Penn St. Part of joining the Big 10 included a clause that the sidelines at Penn St. will be straight and not have boxes around wherever the reciever's foot lands, like back in 1982!!!

Ha ha isn't this fun?

I think the addition of Nebraska to the Big ten was long needed especially with the addition of Bo Pellini and will expose the ineptness of Rich Rodrigues as a big time coach with UofM. The Big ten has still not mentioned their next pick which was Notre Dame who has reserved their decision for later.

(quoted from post at 22:02:27 06/18/10) So what will the Big 12 be called if it does not have 12 teams?????

Probably still the Big 12. The Big Ten actually at this moment has 11 schools. Check out the logo. See the 11?

And you know what the N stands for on the Nebraska football helmet? "Noledge".

You know what the football players think the N stands for? "Not guilty, your honor".
