Speaking of wet hay

I cut a bunch of hay Monday and got an inch and a half of rain on it Tuesday night. Last week I had some in the same shape and tedded it best I could with the wheel rake, following the owners manual instructions with limited success.
So this morning,I went out about 10 o'clock with the M-C Rotary Scyth, kept it raised up a little, ran 8.5 MPH without the windrow pans on it and just let the hay fly. Got done just past noon. Checked it just after one and it's looking good. Getting rattly on top. I think I can rake it by 2:30 or so. Guess those old things are good for something besides cutting cornstalks.

Yep,just got done baling it. Had a few heavy bales, but overall,I was satisfied with how dry it was.
The yield was unbelievable. 9 acres, seeded in 03,I rolled 83 4x5 high density round bales. That's better'n 9 bales to the acre. I usually figure 5 for an overall average on everything in first cutting.

Any thing that will fluff the hay up and spread it will help it dry. If you where in grass hay then it would work fine. On Alfalfa I would think that you would loose a lot of leaves. Glad to hear you where able to save it. Many around me aren't so lucky. Too wet for too long and it is black. Hope their stand in not smothered out under the windrow.
