If you leave it on the tractor, try steel wool. I took mine off the IHC 10-20 and went over it well with a fine wire brush on an arbor. Really took off the krud. If it is a real mess, like one off a tractor that has been neglected for years and you are rebuilding it,,,I have used Muratic Acid,,,then rinse in baking soda to neturalize the acid,,,and finish with steel wool, wire brush, of even go to the buffer. They are so well built and tough you have a lot of options.
