Must be from all the snow, but we have more fleas around here than ever. Talked to two vets and a PetSmart store manager. They can"t keep Frontline in stock.
Any tried and true solutions out there?

spread hydrated lime in your barn it dries them out. when we bought our little farm we had a break out of fleas (the big black ones that would tear you up) spread lime and treated the livestock aint had a flea since (6 years)

We had the problem last year. They were sucking the blood out of the kittens so bad that they died. They chewed me to pieces, I react to the bites badly. We found a spray made out of orange peel. It is available thru Norby's Farm and Fleet. It is made in California. We also found out that Borax will dehydrate them enough to kill them. We knocked them down hard. Also if you wash the animals down with Dawn detergent, it would take care of them.

The new pills available for dogs are the best thing I have ever seen. One kills them (the fleas) and the other is like birh control for them. I coat the entire area around the house, in the barns, etc. with Imadicloprid. It's the active ingredient in Top Spot or one of those liquids you put on the dogs back. We dont get fleas anymore.

Same problem here in east Texas, I took my little buddy to vet and he put him on "Comfortis" tablets. In less than 4 hours the fleas were dying on the dog and in 6 hours his scratching had completely stopped. 1 tablet a month for 3 months cost was 45.00 and very well worth it. You can get it online a little cheaper, about 38.00 is the best I have seen.
Good luck,
