neighbor has IH with loader non-running. Supposed head gasket.ya sure. Fellow is really sick needs help. He is about as mechanical as my cat. I would consider buying tractor, however I cannot find id tag, He dosen't know model, was his dad's. It's diesel , loader looks very good. I would guess setting 5 years. I have had IH f12 H and M's. good tractors, however I never had one with a whoope-tee-do lever (what JD dealer refered TA too. Could lever be a reverser??? I want to be fair with neighbor, however cannot see spending more on engine than good running tractor would cost. Give me some idea of value, Thanks

well if it's your neighbor an you want to be fair with him, take it home an spend some time with it - find out what it really needs and then you know how much to offer him.

Good idea, will discuss it with his sisters first then him as 2 weeks ago 2/3 of his toung and part of jaw bone removed. It's so sad as he is a great friend and neighbor. The loader is covering most of spots where I though tag would be. Any ideas of just where to look?????

Post these pictures on the Farmall site and I am sure someone can tell you what it is and where to find the numbers.

serial tag should be on the right side of the clutch housing. i'd say its a 504. the 340 grille has horizontal bars.
the lever is a Torque Amplifier. tractor will operate with or without TA.
running, probably $2500=3000. as is,about 1000 less is justifiable easily.

I have never seen one in person, but my guess is a 504. See the link. I sympathize with your friend, if not for him, no more than $1500, because of all the missing parts -- unless they are still laying around.
504

Wilson, That definitely is a 504 utility. I have one. The tag is located on the right side. Follow the gas cap down to the clutch housing. It is behind a couple of hydraulic lines, directly left of the oil filter canister. Mine also has the same loader.

A pig in a poke like that is worth scrap/parts value unless there is a sentimental attachment. Sentiment is expensive.$500-1000.

I bought a running 504 gas with the same loader once (probably 7 years ago) at an auction for $4200 (I think). Was going to keep it as everything was working and it filled my needs. Had it in the driveway cleaning and maintaining some things and somebody driving by stopped and offered me $500 more than I had into it including the few repairs I had made. Decided to sell and ended up with a Ford 3600 w/ Great Bend Loader a little later. Still have that one. Hope I never sell it. ~15 years newer than the 504, Diesel, just a generally nicer tractor. Non-running with unknown problems it is not worth much, I like the idea of spending some time on it and seeing what you might have to put into it.

looks like a 606 to me... that would make a stout loader tractor with some counterweight on the rear.

I"d call the scrap man for a bid. Looks pretty well abused. Hate to see tractors get to looking like that.

He also has a battery in the normal spot for 504- just ahead of the gearshift. The one behind the seat must be an auxilliary. Way too short to be a 6 cylinder- I'm sure its a 504.
