Get a piece of rope and make your own. They are sort of fun to make. Not hard to do. Google rope halter making.

Here is how I make them. It is the easiest and best way.

My boys have used a pony halter on bucket calf projects for 4 H. They seem to work pretty well for most calves. DONT make the mistake and leave it on though, a boy in their group did and it really rubbed his poor calfs nose.

This spring, I had my vet down to pull out a breach calf. After he did it, the cow was having trouble getting back up. The vet grabbed some rope I had laying there and tied a halter on her in about 2 seconds and we used that encourage her. When we got her up, he pulled a slip not on the side, and the rope just fell off. For the life of me I can't figure out how to duplicate it now. I thought I would find instructions online, but all I find is info like this about actually making halters.

Hey! Fellow FFA Alumni, do you go to any alumni dinner/dances? Pretty funny. I started as the "Sentinal" of my chapter and advanced thru treasurer, secretary and finally president. Always made sure we had fun. That was the first priority. It was under my reign as treasurer that we built and staffed a hot dog stand. That was a money maker. I should have stayed in that business.
