about 90 degrees and no breeze today, cutting some grass with the brushcutter when it stalled and just wasn't running right. Took it to the local ag shop where I bought it. Guy gave me one of them looks and asked how old the gas was. He got the same look from me so emptied the tank, put in a new plug, and filled it with stihl motomix. Said it was my kinda fuel cause it lasts over a year. Went to pay and he told me to buy the rest of the jug he opened and call it even. Only way it would have been better is if he'da came and finished my cutting to demenstrate that the thing would work again.

The Stihl dealer that I use here in South Central Kansas is really good to work with. I will be in the market for a new chainsaw soon and I plan to get it from him. There are others available cheaper, but good customer service isn't exactly "free" if you know what I mean.

Got my brushcutter ther because I was afraid one would break in shipping but Stihl saws are almost half the price in the States. I'll have my brother mail me one when the time comes.

Last Sunday the frig at the farm quit. Called Home Depot to find out if I could get one delivered Monday. Told the girl our frig had quit and if I came and bought one there could it be delivered Monday. Girl said Monday"s deliveries were booked. Sorry and hung up.

Called Lowe"s. Told the lady same story. She said Monday was pretty full, but took my name and phone number and would check with mgr who could approve an override. She called me back in less than 5 minutes and said they could have it there Monday. James and I hopped in the truck, went to Lowe"s and bought a frig.

While we were there, manager comes by and says his delivery guy had just come in and they could load the frig and bring in right out.

We had a brand new frig delivered, set up and working in less than 2 hrs.

Won"t darken the door at HD again.

We've been using Stihl's for years. Been real pleased with the saws and have a dealer that has a very good repair shop.

Look at my post from the other day where I had thought about working for them. With what they pay their employees you can bet they are never going to go out of their way to help anybody....they don't get paid enough to care....

It's your fault...You got me started on Home Depot...

I went there last week to get 6 sheets of 3/4"AC plywood. I found it, but it was racked up about 10' above the floor. I walked over to one young Einstien in an orange vest and asked for some help. He tells me he's just now going on break and to look for someone else. So I do. I find Einstien #II and ask for help. He says he's ALREADY ON BREAK, and can't help. So I turn around and look up at the plywood to try to figure out how to get it down by myself. At that point, Young Einstien #II starts talking. "SO.Are you just gonna STAND THERE"? To which I replied, "Well Sport, Standing there doing nothing seems to be working out just fine for you, so I thought I'd try it". He started cussing me. I left, drove another 1/2-mile to Lowes and opened an account there. Done w/Home Depot.

I went to The Home Depot store in Huntsville Texas. To get my mother a stove. Three people in that department. Mother said I will take that one. They looked like quail taking off.
So we drove over to Palastine to Loews and picked up the stove. They can bulldoze all the H/D stores as for as I care.

You people need to start talking to managers about the way you are treated. You can bet those young punks attitude will change or they will be out the door as there are 200 different punks waiting for their job.

Let me add another kudo to Lowes. Dropped by last night to get some stuff to work on the gutters on the hay barn.

Asked a young kid in lumber where the gutters and flashing were. He didn't tell me, he walked me over and showed me. Helped me select the stuff I needed, then did the same with the flashing. Didn't have a lot of stuff, but he then offered to carry it to the check out for me.

How's that for service!

He actually CUSSED YOU??? I'd raise such a ruckus that every manager would come running and fire the punk on the spot. I would never put up with that. They'd end up giving me the wood for free, afraid that I'd run the rest of the customers out of the store.

I always go to Lowes! When our local store first started carrying colored tin I needed a certain size but they didn't have it. Found a guy asked he went in the back and looked, found it buried under and behind other and came out told me that if I gave him ten minutes he would have it dug out and I could get whatever I needed.

GREAT customer service at our local Lowes.

I just went to one of our local farm supply stores as I needed one 5/16 by 2 inch bolt. I found it and as I was one my way to checkout I met the owner. I showed him the bolt and said it was a huge purchase; He told me to put it in my pocket and go on out the door and waited until I was past the checkout to see that the cashiers didn't stop me. I made sure I thanked him. Of course, his knowing that I'm into old iron didn't hurt; he has an Allis Chalmers B and a couple of stationary engines.

A Stihl 880 lives here, bought new from Canada 'cause it was 1/3 cheaper than in the US. But no warranty, and it came with a defective carb.

Customer service is great at our Stihl dealer, but so is the closest Home Depot. They cheerfully upgraded my PVC conduit size for the same price when they were short a few hundred feet of what I needed. 2" was much easier to fish 700' of wire than 1 1/2". I expect it depends on who's running the place.

I'll agree that Lowe's and Stihl are top notch! Our Lowes here in Lake City is full of really good folks. Seems to be alot of retirees working there (makes sense, we do live in North Florida) You know what they say about experience! They seem to actually know what they are talking about! As for Stihl's, I have an 025 that I have used and abused for at least 15 years. I'm not sure I have ever changed the plug! It sputters on the 5th pull, turn off the choke, 2 more pulls, runs like a scalded dog. My F-I-L has one as well, he's probably put 2 carbs on it, at least that many fuel lines, constantly goes through plugs, etc. He usually comes and gets mine!

You made out better than we did at Lowe's when our fridge died last fall. We were told by the fellow (who was pretty good to talk to otherwise). that it would be a 3 day wait. We went to the mom and pop store nine miles from home. They had one out to our place within an hour of closing the deal and they wound up be very competitive in price also.
