Strange thing, I had a large woods rat that set up house keeping in one of my feed rooms. I decided to try and catch him humanely, after snares, and large rat traps you have to nail down failed.
I put 4 range cubes in it, which he seems to like immensely. They also like tractor wiring. 3 nights the trap was tripped a range cube was gone but no rat. Last night I gave up and decided the trip was useless and didn’t reset it. This morning the range cube was gone and the rat was in the trap. Some how he opened the door, went in and couldn’t get back out.
I disposed of him by taking him to my neighbors and letting him go. They are from California and tell me they like all kinds of wildlife. He should do well there.
