Cost of net wrap

I don't know, but the last figures I heard say the cost per bale is about $1.50. This is not 2010 info, so price may be higher now.

Even though the cost of wrap is a little higher than string, you have to also consider baling speed. If you are baling heavy stuff, it is amazing how much faster wrapping is. Seems like you just get stopped and the bale is wrapped and you are going again. Sometimes when I am baling with string (we aren't stingy with the string) it seems like I should have a book along to read while the bale is tying (I know, just an exageration).

I'd say closer to $1 per bale for a 4x5 bale. Twine for a 4x5 runs $.25- $.30. Of course, it depends on several factors. Cost for a 5x6 could easily get to $1.50 for net. There are definite advantages to using net.

Cover-edge netwrap from JD cost me $.70 per bale once I subtract the cost of twine for a 4X51/2 bales with 2 wraps. These are 11,000 ft rolls. Some cheaper netwrap doesn't last as long in the weather and the rolls are shorter in length.

Netwpap is 25% faster than twine. It saves fuel and wear & tear as baler doesn't run as long for same amt of hay. Netwrap also gives bales eye appeal if one is selling the hay.

I have a New Holland BR740A round baler (4X5 bale) The net wrap I buy (not new holland brand) is 51"X9840". Costs $220 per roll, and I got a 235 bales out of the last roll....less than a dollar a bale....string sucks monkey balls.
