Swapping loaders on a JD

Ive got a buddy that owns a JD 401B that doesnt have a loader on it. He has someone that wants to sell him a JD 300B with a loader that has a bad reverse gear for 4 grand. He wants to take the loader off the 300 and put it on his 401B and doesnt know if it would fit. I dont have a clue so I am asking yall. I personally think it"d be less hassle to buy the 300 and fix the transmission than to try fooling with swappin the loader. But he asked me to ask yall so thats what Ive done. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I'm not as knowledgeable on JD industrial tractors since I was employed at a AG dealership. A 400 has a 4 cyl engine while a 300 has a 3 cyl. so the 400 is going to be longer between the mounting holes on the frame than the 300.

On the no working reverser on the 300 either the shifter valve or the reverser clutch pack has failed. If it's the clutch pack a split is required of the tractor.

JDemaris will know for sure.

several years a friend bought a new 310 with a 410 loader. He said it would lift more higher.but,I dont have any more details to share, sorry.Steve
