Fire hose vs high tensile wire. which is stronger??

Hey folks,
Stallion just got out again and scared some folks. He is contained in electric band (solid fences aren't allowed where he is). I'm afraid of HT or thinner wire because of injury.
Actually a two part ??? as I type (I type slow  )

1) I have plenty of fire hose to do his paddock. If I used the fire hose and then streched HT wire, think the fire hose would be strong enough to keep him from getting ripped up on the HT wire in a panick situation? Course there would be electric on the HT wire.

2) is the fire hose a good enough insulator for electric fence? If so, things would look much neater as I could run the HT on the hose and it would be invisable to passers by (which there are plenty), and maybe safer to the horse.

He's a smart guy, if he wants out he doesn't touch the fence, just corners his buddy and makes him tear up the fence. With the fire hose, I could set some solid anchor posts and make a nice fence.

hate to tell you this but a stalion that has figured out how to push his buddies through a fence needs to be seperated from the herd permanently or you can try gelding him but I've never had that work

If the hose is going to be between posts at about 5 meters between posts, the posts are going to need to be strong and deep. The hose will provide plenty of strength. Attaching it neatly can be done with Gorilla glue and clamps with an overlap of about 500mm on a loop, or on a splice. Use flat boards to press the hose together between clamps.
It will insulate until it is wet!! Then it will conduct well and that is not the idea. The wire can be placed close to the hose, but touching will ground out (opinion) the charger.
I also agree that an aggressive horse will get more aggressive if the effort he is putting out to intimidate the other horse is less fruitful. If possible (I hear you saying it is not) separate them. (I had a neighbor killed by a stallion in a stall. It was such a great and desirable stud, that the bad temperament was worth it(not). Jim

I know this is not answering your question. I used railroad ties for fence posts and ran heavy fence wire around the inside of the posts so the when the horse leaned on the wire it didn't pull it loose from the posts. Also had to use heavy chain to hold the gate secure. The horse had picked the gate up from the hinge side and walked it around wide open. had to turn the top pivot point/hinge downward. Great fun (not)

(quoted from post at 08:17:05 05/31/10) Great fun (not)
He done it again.

By the time I count time, labor, materials, etc, I'm just gonna set the paddock area up with these panels,,,,,

Cost will end up being about 7 bucks a ft, but will be moveable/flexible and just bolt them together & run a strand of electric just for insurance.

He don't mean any harm, I just took him away from the mares and put him with the gelding too soon in a small place.
