I drove one of those delivering forklifts in the '70's...Big ol' gas V8 , Spicer 5 speed , 2 speed rear, air brakes, it was a great truck !!

I had a similar truck.. Mine was a 69 F-800.. Mine was a tandem, 14' box, but I had what I was told was a Allison auto in mine.. Could haul roughly 300 bushels on the old girl..

It was what some folks would call a dragonfly... Drag a** uphill, and fly down.. I think 57 was as fast as you could make it go.. I'd stand right into the carb, it'd wind up good but no speed record..

My grandad bought the one I had in 1979, used it when I was little.. they parked it in 91, and I bought it about 10 years later and hauled grain with it for a couple years, then used it to haul 2-3 loads of junk a year after that.

I kinda wish I'd have kept it, even though it needed tires, was slow going, and hard on gas it'd do a lot of work.. Plus was a handy place to toss scrap from the shop until the truck was full.

Decided to edit post and add the picture.. Taken just before I sold the truck.. that was about 3 years ago now I guess.

There was one very similiar to that around here years ago but it was a tandem. It had spent most of its life as a gravel truck, and then a farmer lenghthend the frame and put a stack mover deck on it and hauled hay with it for several years until he got stuck with a stack one fall and the whole thing went up in smoke. Tough old trucks for sure, there isnt any vehicle built today that will still be working when its 50.

I used to haul corn on one just like it almost 30 years ago.

That's when I learned going up hills is never going to be your problem.

Going down is.

I know there is a truck site , but for some reason I couldnt get the picture to post on there. But it turned out very interesting here on the tractor talk anyway. thanks for the responses, I still say this site is great!

Ole F-600, still on the road, still hauls some hay, lumber and what have you, nothing heavy, I like these era trucks, raw truck.
