I have a buddy whos dad just got killed in an scaffolding collapse at the new power plant in edwardsport indiana. John the mans son is in my class and goes to school with me. Mother nowhere that anybody knows of, sister a few miles away with a baby and the Scott and John are DIRT POOR. a few people around town are doing a collection for him for funeral cost and my FFA Chapter is donating some money. We dont know where he is going to stay yet.
please send some prayers to the John.

We often forget how fortunate most of us are. We should take nothing for granted and take time to appreciate people and life in general.

So sorry about your friend.

Gene

Life events like this teach you to survive , make plans that shelter you from events like this.
Loyal family an a couple of friends that you can count on, no questions asked.
Feeling sorry is not an option .
Prayers dont provide common sense for people, only actions .

where are you and what FFA I help eastern green FFA some . What Trade was the fellow in?? I was member of Millwrights as building grain elevators. I used to haul loads of cinders out of edwardsport when I first got license to drive, used to fill roads on farm.

I cant stand ambulance chasing lawyers but......The widow likely has a case against the employer, OSHA would have a field day with an accident like that. The best thing for the widow to do is to get an out of court settlement, like $300,000.

"make plans that shelter you from events like this". How are you supposed to shelter yourself from an unexpected tragedy? You can't live in a bubble. Nothing wrong with having empathy for people who go through things like this. It does sound like John should be talking to lawyer and/or OHSA about worksite safety violations. Sad story for sure. Dave

I assume he meant "keep your like in order". Write a will, get some cheap term life insurance, designate someone to care for minor children, make sure other paperwork like savings/titles/deeds are in a known location and reasonably organized, etc. Good advice.

Delta i really appreacte that offer. Sorry i dont know johns address but, i am going to the funeral tuesday and wensday and will make sure it gets to him if you send it to me. give me an email address and i will send my address.

If the deceased was a member of a union, he may have had accidental death coverage (insurance)there. It may not be alot, but it would be something to check into.
