OT-Vacation in Florida. Not so hot.

You would think that going to Florida on Vacation sounds like a great idea. I used to live in the Tampa Bay area. Stationed at MacDill a long long time ago. The traffic here is terrible. Reminds me a lot of Los Angeles. The area is built up for miles and miles. Lots of vacant store fronts. Not the small mom and pop stores but the big box stores are out of business. You sit at the traffic lights waiting for a green light for ever. Heading back to Alabama Sunday morning. Paradise is in my own back yard.

I feel you, I live in North Florida, Columbia County. I really consider myself to be a South Georgian! I dont venture south of Gainesville if I can help it, it's a different country down there. It beautiful up here, I live within 15 miles of a dozen springs and rivers, always lot's to do.

I was there in 2007 and it was bumper to bumper traffic from Tampa across the bridge to ST Pete. The plane was 6 hours late stuck in DC do to a thunderstorm on the return trip. Arrived in Tampa at 1am and we were loaded and in Baltimore by 3am. Glad to get home. Hal

I hear you. I live in South Central FL, inland about half way coast to coast and avoid Tampa, Orlando, Miami like the plague.

My son is in Safety Harbor which is across the bay from Tampa and has an auto repair shop in Tampa. He has been there about 23 years and all I can say is it is getting harder and harder to go down to see him. Anywhere in that area is like being trapped in traffic and conjestion.
