Has anyone pull started ("popped the clutch")on a John Deere D and how did you do it? It has a hand lever type clutch/brake system. Thanks

you hook a chain or stap to a solid point on the FRONT of the D. Slowly take up the slack so as not to jerk the tractor. place in highest gear after turing on fuel(make sure proper fuel is in tank) all kill switch meckensums are in run position. Slowely pull the tractor to a speed of approx 5 miles per hour. push the clutch lever fordward slowely untill it snaps in (possibly engine may start as your doing this. After the motor starts promply pull the clutch lever to the rear not so far as to use the pulley brake to stop the fordward direction of the D as this pulley brake is to stop the transmission from rolling when shifting cogs in the gearcase. set brakes on tractor after pulling tractor has sufficent slack on towing device unhook.
