Super M losing power

A buddy of mine has a 53? Super M that runs strong for 30 min to an hour after a cold start, then begins to lose power. Any ideas? One thing I have noticed is that one point on the carb tends to get very cold after running for awhile-to the point where ice will form on the outside of the carb body. it is possible that the inside may be icing up as well and effectivley choking the passage. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Two common issues A failing coil, or fuel starvation from a plugged cap vent.
If the coil is vvvveeeerrrryyyy hot when it begins to fade, I would change it. Jim

Carb ice, although possible, is rare on tractors...more common on aircraft. Air rushing through the carb is accelerated and compressed and can super cool as it passes thru the venturi. Add a little moisture and you get ice. The ice builds up and restricts flow...loss of power. My Super M will occasionally get condensation or a little frost on the carb, but, I've never had her lose power over it. Make sure there is plenty of nice clean oil in the bath air cleaner.

My power loss was caused by restricted gas flow from a little rust in the tank.

My Super M will ice up the carburetor under certain combinations of temperature and humidity, but it is usually when starting up. Last time it happened, I finally got it to run(poorly) for a few minutes and covered the engine area with a tarp. A few minutes later it ran great, and continued to do so.
