Best way to sell tractors

I am needing to get rid of some of my tractors. About 10 of them. Was wandering what people think is the best way. I am thinking about having an internet auction? I have tried craigslist, but seems to get a lot of junk.
Thanks,
Kevin

Internet auction would be interesting- to see what kind of scammers you could bring out of the woodwork. The mind fairly boggles at the possibilities.

Let us know, so we can watch the fun.

Depends on where you are. Big Iron auctions from St. Edward, Nebraska seems to get pretty good exposure. I have seen things on there from Utah, so I assume they cover a pretty good area.

If these are modern tractors and if you have a good relationship with your local dealer he would probably sell them on commision.

If you don"t mind talking to a dumb girl (old hippie would be a better term), may I ask what you mean by scammers? I am sitting here trying to figure out how to sell my dad"s vintage ariens tiller. Am I going to be scammed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

first of all it depends on what you have to sell. are they antique, restored, rare, original or ? you should have an idea what you need out of them. put a realistic price on them and advertize.so many tractors advertized here in the photo ads with rediculous prices that i know the person knows nothing about a tractor. And they are never sold either.buyers are not stupid.

I sold my tractors here on YT photo ads with real good results. I refuse to sell outside the U.S. I've also sold a lot of tractor parts on here. It's free and covers a lot of area. Also I can say I never had any problems with the tractor people and made many new friends.

The common scam you will see here on this site and many others is reffered to as the Nigerian Scam. What will happen is they will offer to buy at full price, maybe plus money you need to pay their shipper, There will always be extra money included and you just send back the extra. Most times about the value of the item sold. You will get paid with what appears to be a cashiers check. When you wire the extra money back the cashiers check will then come back as no good. You will be out whatever you sold, the money you were "paid" and the money you sent to the buyer.

These scammers don't care about the item you are selling all they want is the money.

The times I have had this happen it is pretty easy to spot. They will say they have the money to purchase what you are selling and make comments that are general and appear as though they haven't even looked at your ad. The english will be very broken. Things like that. Simple thing to do is if it doesn't smell right it probably isn't.

BTW I have had this happen here and on ebay. Additional note with ebay. The time I had it happen he hit on Buy It Now just before the auction ended which was a jump from $600 to a BIN of $2000, no bids up to that point either. Also with ebay don't put to much faith in the feedback rating. The scammers will steel others id and use their good rating till they have to move on.

Internet is a nice way to buy and sell and even find a spouse (I have done all three, well fiancee at least) but you need to use due caution also.

hope this helps

Sell them on here, you have to sell them cheap nowadays to get attention..3 to 4 year ago prices are way down now...

Thank you JT! Your information was loaded with red flags ~ I would have realized that immediately. It"s a shame some people are so gullable, but then there just doesn't seem like there is a lot of "intelligence" out there in this day and age.
By the way, are the old Ariens Rockets (rear tine) selling these days?
Again, thank you so very much! (And good luck with the online fiancee!!! I think I would be too sceptical to meet someone online ~ call me chicken!)

I have 2 UTS molines a JD '52 B, JD '47 A with 237 mounted picker, JD MT, F-12 with elctic start, overdrive, and foot brakes. F14 with electic start on rear steel, F-12, F-12 on steel with power lift and fenders, Farmall B, and a Massey 44. All are running nice and field ready. Some are restored others in work clothes. I hate to get rid of them, but got to pay bills.

(quoted from post at 18:27:24 05/25/10) If you don"t mind talking to a dumb girl (old hippie would be a better term), may I ask what you mean by scammers? You will only get scammed if you let yourself get scammed.

All you need to know is that someone is in your driveway with a pickup truck and a fist full of cash, and you're happy with the price he's paying.

Just don't deal with people that are not willing to come pick up the tiller in person, people that will not pay in cash, and people that cannot communicate effectively in your native language. Don't give them a minute of your time.
