O/T Occupations in the Pennsylvania Allaganies

We just got back from D.C. traveling through Pennsylvania along 80/90 and 70/76. Very pretty country; I could live there. What do folks do for a living in that area of the mountains? We saw a few small farms in the valleys, but not much else. Thank you.

Real close to I-70 & 76 in sw Pa. Do about 8000 square bales & a couple hundred rounds. Takes all summer-and all winter to sell them. Taught high school math for 36 years and evening junior college math for 24 years. Weather kinda nice here although we complain about it about 350 days a year!

Pitt is much better, IMO. But I grew up around Pittsburgh.

My mother grew up around Johnstown and we still have lots of relatives there, though we don't visit hardly ever. You're right about it being beautiful country.
