I thought it was poison oak at first. I used to go 'seng hunting with my dad back in the early sixties. I doubt if I could identify it now.

Do you have ramps in your area?

I've never eaten any, but I've heard they cure eveyting from sinus trouble to the opposite end of the body system.

Up here it looks like 5 leaf poisen oak to me but I'm no plant specialist I do know I've had some terrible reaction to that but I've had some of that waxy leaf plant in some areas but I sprayed that with brush killer just to make sure.

ginseng. What's it worth now?

Got to go sing hunting with my dad a couple of times in Indiana. Enjoyed it. Don't remember how much it brought.

Nancy,

Where in Indiana? I grew up (as much as I ever will) just north of what we called "Naptown" back before the term "Indy" had been invented.

I live in Surry county NC but this is on my place in Abingdon, Virginia which is over the mountian from you. I am sure there's plenty near you. Most of the time it grows on the north side of a wooded hill. Ginsang dose not like much sunshine. It will have red berries on it in the fall and is a lot easier to find. DH
