Wouldn't ya know it???

3 days after I break down and buy my own grease gun for $25 to keep in my garage off the farm, I stop at a rummage sale on my way home from work and there are 2 grease guns for a buck each. They are older, but both work just fine. One had a pipe on it, the other a hose with a small hole in it. (use them on the tractors to keep it on topic)

Needless to say I picked them both up and brought them home to the farm. I had already put the tube of grease in my new one and used it the day before so I can't return it now, but atleast we've got a slightly higher chance of finding a grease gun on the farm....

I also found a 2 gallon Stancan gas can that looked new inside, and the spout was still good for another $1. He also had a plastic 1 gallon Wedco gas can that needs a spout for $.25 Also picked up a few older Tonka trucks and a loader, about 20ft. of #55 flat chain, and a bunch of door hardware that will work in our old farm house.

Gave him a 20 and got some change back.... I think that qualifies as a good day.

Some garage sales you win, most are just baby clothes. However, I bought a very old very good 1/2" B&D drill and Skil saw for $3, Just needed new cords. Besides you can never have too many grease guns.

No kiddin. I stopped at another one yesterday that was advertising machinist tools. When I got there, there wasn't crap left if there was much to start with. He went online and looked up the prices for everything and had them posted there, and then knocked his 20-30 year old tools down to a whopping 1/2 price of new. The only thing I bought was an edge finder for $2.

Wasn't much else I could have really used anyway, as I've already got a fairly well stocked tool box at work.

You are right, you can never have enough grease guns to misplace. You find them once you go to town and buy a new one.....

Of course, when you do find them, they are empty and you don't have any cartidges to refill......so another trip to town.....

My neighbor picked up some extra clamps and now he has a gun on every tractor and swather on the place.

Always thought that was kind of clever thinking.

When something like this happened to me, it used to raise my blood pressure. Now that I am older
I call it "dollar averaging".

About ten years ago at a rummage sale I got...
A valve spring compressor, ridge reamer, ring compressor, and a ball joint seperator.
All in one box for $3.50 I thought I hit the rummage sale jackpot and I have never done that well since.

People turn in machines, rentals, reposessions, and don't clean them out. I haven't bought any grease, grease guns, or work gloves for years!

Probably have about 20 good grease guns I've bought at sales for fifty cents to a dollar/each. Hardly any demand for manual guns because nearly everyone has gone electric. I'm really not enthused about the electrics. Put in a new grease tube and gave several to the kids for home use; eg, lawn mowers . Most of the others are filled with various greases, such as corn head grease, standard grease, silicon grease, high temperature/extreme pressure grease, etc.

I have a "new" grease gun that takes cartridges but I still use the old "suck-it-up" gun frequently...and I always have grease that way. (Yep, pretty sloppy, I know)
