I posted about the V-6 intake manifold gaskets a little while back. Last weekend I started the project. When I got the manifold off, they didn't look as bad as others that I had removed. It has 184K on it now and looks like it had the Felpro gaskets put in it sometime since it was new. I got it back together and first it would not idle. I took it for a drive and after a couple miles it was acting like the cruise control wouldn't disengage. The idle was way too high, around 2500. My son found the EGR gasket on the floor when I backed out. I replaced it and hoped that a vacuum leak was causing the high idle. Tonight I got back to it and it was idling about 2500 again. I disconnected the battery cable hoping it might clear some code. That did not help. Any ideas on where to start to get this under control. It ran fine until I tried to "fix it". Thanks in advance. P.S. I still do not know if I got the coolant leak fixed.

You may have some old gaskit LEFT on the upper intake manifold or the new one moved. HAVE HAD THAT HAPEN TO ME BEFORE. JUST A SMALL CORNER AND THAY WILL IDLE AT 2500. Spray carb cleaner around
the upper and lower manifold with the engin runing and see if the rpms lower. That will be your vaccum leak. Hope this helps

My wife insists on driving mini vans. As a matter of policy, I ABSOLUTELY refuse to work under the hood of a mini van.

This is why. I'll work on anything else myself, but I consider it money well spent to pay someone else to work on a mini van.
