I have been working on an 8N tractor, and have found that the exhaust control valve on the Hydraulic Pump is stuck "IN". According to the manual it says it should move freely in the bushing, however it does not. Once the Hydraulic control valve was put back in should the Hydraulic Pump push that valve back out? If it does not, how can I resolve this problem without pulling the pump out as I am not sure how to pull it out. If anyone can help, Please let me know. Thanks Kenny

Kenny:

Sticking intake and/or exhaust valves in 8N hydraulic pumps are caused by sediment building up in the sump. It is unlikely that you will be able to properly free the stuck valve without removing the pump for disassembly and cleaning.

Removal of the pump is rather straight forward and well covered in the I&T FO-4 manual.

Be certain to properly clean the sump while the pump is removed before refilling with new oil.
