Mostly family owned dairy farms around here. Pics. show several on the north side of the river, taken from the south side, about a mile across to them. The interstate in the one pic. is I90 that crosses the nation. The lock is part of the NYS Barge Canal System that links the Great Lakes to the Hudson River just north of Albany NY. Behind this lock is a dam and hydro plant that spills of to the north side of the lock and rock formation. by the train tracks. The lake on the other side of the valley is a part of another man made hydro project. The church is the oldest surviving one in the area, built by Sir William Johnson.

HY Nate How are things your way. Spring planting and the hay crop are ahead of the norm here, other than temp. Only got to 42.8 today. DON"T get me going on NYC. We up here consider them foreigners. Only thing is that everything we produce from electric power, to food, to storage for their drinking water originates from here. Wish we could put up a boarder crossing just north of the city, and let them fend for themselves.

Hay mj: These pics. were taken from the major hiways and a few feet off the pavement. I haven't posted many from the biways, yet! Heck; all the mfg. jobs are gone, we might as well become tour guides. Can you pronounce Canajoharie, or Ephratah correctly.

Terrible weather here. Got half my corn in last Friday and been sitting here watching it rain since.

I have a friend who lives in PA now but he is from Up State NY so I have been up there several times. I always ask him why he would leave such a beautiful place and he says NEW YORK CITY.. LOL...
