Just wandering if any of you all have any experience with a MF 1135. I found one that is and 1976 with 4400 hrs for $5500 the guy says its in good shape minus some faded paint and needs a new seat. I don't know much about MF tractors I'm a ford guy myself but seems like a a good deal for some cheap HP. Whats your guys opinion? thanks

Some love them, some hate them. We have an 1105 and a friend of mine has an 1135 that he likes a lot. I would advise you to get it to operating temperature and hook something heavy to the 3 point before deciding to buy it.

If you are needing a general "light " work tractor they work okay. That price is about going the market here in Iowa. The resale on them is not great. If you do much heavy work with them they can have transmission and rearend troubles. The bigger Masseys are pricy to fix too. Agco makes JD and CIH look like angles on parts prices.

Im planning to use it to pull a 14 foot disc a 4 bottom plow and an JD 8300 seed drill and a JD 7000 6 row planter eventually right now i have a 4RW but if i get the tractor i will upgrade to a 6RW next year or two. my biggest tractor now is a ford 7000 i just need somthing a bit bigger now I'm farming a bit more acrage. Is this tractor ok for this work or do i need to look at somthing else?

I have a 14 burch disc now but would look for a 16 or 18 but can only aford 1 upgrade at a time im also looking at if i get the tractor they also have a white 5-16 plow i may get and sell my 4 bottom.
ill let you all know what happens thanks for the advice i really appriciate it
thanks

The 1005 series was Massey's better series with the exception of the 1085 and the 1155. The 1085 was underpowered for their size and the V8 in the 1155 was too much for that rear end. We currently farm with a 1977 1135 that we bought a few years ago for $6500. Great running tractor kicks out around 120hp. Very simple no electronics to go wrong. We pull 6-16s without any problem. It could easily handle an 18' disk or a 30' field cultivator.

Price sounds fair if it's in good working order... but honestly I can't see why you'd want that tractor unless you're changing your gear up too. The stuff you list is already matched to the Ford.
Going to a larger tractor will just burn more fuel and make fine work harder to do with a bigger tractor...

Good friend of mine has a 1135 and MANY 1155's.. He swears by em.. pulls 2 of the 1155's.. has one that runs in the field cranked up quite a ways. They pull their corn planter with the 1135.

I know they've had some problems with ALL of them here and there.. But what 35 year old tractor can you hop on and NEVER have any trouble with? Don't matter the color, or even the name on the hood, they all have issues eventually..

But to the point of your question, in good shape, Yes, I'd say it is worth the money. Locally, the price would be a touch high, but we don't have a lot for dealer network close as we do with Deere, IH or NH/Ford

As for undersized equipment.. sounds like you have a plan.. Upgrade one thing at a time.. easier on the wallet at least. Also, the 6-354 Perkins diesel is pretty good on fuel.. I want to say that my friend says they burn about 5 gallons a hour (I'll ask again next visit I have with him) pulling the 6 row no till corn planter, plus they have tanks on the tractor plus what's on the planter

i want to go to a bigger tractor i have been farming around 40acres with the 7000 now not this year but 2011 ill be doing 160 got 2 more places to rent and i would like to have a cab and i will be up sizing my equipment as time goes on. ive just started farming (Im a Newbie) at least this way i may continue to use my ford for planting and the massey for my tillage until i can up size my planter but even then i think my ford 7000 will pull a 6 row planter so i may still use both but i wold like to keep growing as i can afford to until i can be a full time farmer. so that is my goal that is my thinking behind the massey 1135 correct me if im wrong or if any of you have a better way to acomplish my goal any advice is appriciated thanks

The 6-354 Perkins is without a doubt one of the most fuel efficient and reliable engines ever made. They were used in many tractors and lots of other equipment as well. Dave

Good tractors. I run an 1105 and an 1135, doing heavy tillage with the 1135. That machine sounds like it is good for the money, run it until it gets warm to check for overheating and see if the multi power engages.

If you're going to upgrade the gear then I see no reason to not buy the tractor. It's just that you're not going to gain anything pulling the same gear with the big tractor...
