Knee High By The 4th Of March? PICS!

Hey guys, I drove by this field a few days ago and was amazed by the height this corn had gotten but I didn't have my phone with me. So today I went back by with phone in hand and got a couple of pictures. This is about 40 acres and was one of the first corn planted in the area. It's standing at 6 feet plus right now. Notice it hasn't started to tassle yet. I reckon it's going to grow a bit more! The reason for the dirt and rock in the foreground, the city is creeping closer. They just got done laying sewer lines next to this field for the houses across the road.
BTW, this is field corn and will be used for feed. There seems to be more sorghum and cotton planted here this year than in the past. Oh, this is in the Rio Grande Valley, deep South Texas.

And I had to back up and take this one with my little wind up truck in the foreground to give a better idea of how tall this corn is.
It's been in the 90's here for almost 2 weeks now, thanks to our extensive irrigation system this stuff can grow.

Looks like a good stand to me.

From what I hear, everything grows good in the Rio nnalert.

Sorry to hear about the urban sprawl; hope this field remains in farmland for many more years.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

A friend has a vegetable business. He has sweet corn that has been in the ground for about three weeks, It is supposed to be down in the twenties tonight. He said today that he has hose and pump and sprayers out and he will be up all night spraying it.

Man!, You sure know how to make a guy feel like he is standing still! My corn hasn't come out of the ground yet!

Talkin' to people here in southern MN, we all ended up with the same planting date now, froze the corn off.

Suppoosed to come back, unless you had 4 leaves or more out,t hen it gets harder.

Some of mine wasn't up, some was unrolling 1 leaf. It's gonna have to grow a new leaf.

You got your corn just about right. :)

Mine hasn't even come out of the bag yet...and with the temps and snow we've been getting, I'm glad its still in the bags!
