9n color (blue ?)

my 9n is dark (almost purple)blue from transmission to pto,including starter,fan blade,water pump,govener and some myss. brackets.it aparently came from factory this way.anyone have any history or reason why the blue color ? Russ

Never seen a factory one like that but I have seen ones that a dealer would paint to make it look like the newer thousand series tractors

all 9ns were "machinery grey". unless special order such as military.

I have a 8N that someone went to a lot of trouble painting blue and gray, they took the hood off and the dash off, now I want it red again. You never know what people will do(Ill. Vets Home in Quincy IL hass a N that is painted JD Green and Yellow!)

A friend of mine has a 9N (or maybe a 2N)that someone had done a fairly decent job of painting the modern Ford blue and gray. He wanted to bring it back to its original state and had it professionally painted. I never liked the dark gray but they should be painted that way for authenticity. He likes to take it to shows and parades now.

I have a very late 47 2N that was painted blue, black primer underneath on sheet metal, and no other color under the blue. I'm guessing it may have been a hiway dept tractor as it had a sickle bar mower on it.
