OT (very) How clean are your beer glasses?

I bartended for years. I NEVER drink out of a bar glass. I'll take my chances with a fresh opened and wiped top ice cold beer bottle.

Soap will kill the head. When I was drinkin' more beer than I do now, at home, I never washed my beer glasses with soap. I'd use very hot water and maybe some sodium bisulfite occasionally. Then I'd dry 'em in the dishwasher, which got them hot enough to kill anything living on them.

Nowadays I just drink my beer outa the bottle.

Not to worry,
Colorado law requires every glass go through a disinfectant rinse or a steam cabnet, same thing for dishes in a restaurant kitchen.

Ask ME, I bartended until a couple of years ago and in Illinois you have to use a sanitizing glass soap then a sanitized rinse, if you had a 3rd sink you used clear water and a 1/4 cup bleach. Of course the 1st wash sink had to have glass brushes in them. This was IL Health dept rules, and they do inspect. Mike

Drinking any beverage from the bottle kills the taste.
Try beer, wine or rye in a large dia glass and sniff the aroma.
Unless of course you are just a guzzler looking for a quick buzz.
I take my Crown Royal, Gibson's Finest or 40 Creek straight in a glass with just ice. Don't want to ruin the good stuff with pop.

Drinking any beverage from the bottle masks the taste.Your tongue can only taste salt, sweet, bitter and sour. It's you nose that knows.

On that thought, I'm going to go and pour some 40 Creek.

(quoted from post at 21:24:38 05/07/10) did you ever wonder how well they wash beer glasses? I jave never seen them use soap. Perhaps some bleach?
If any bubbles are clinging to the side or bottom of the glass, the glass is not clean.
The bubbles will attach to a film residue left from a detergent too.
Need a clean glass, and good head. :D
