Whats the worst piece of equipment you own?

The worst piece of junk I own is a Duhz Farr tedder.

It was poorly engineered, cheaply made and to top it all off the hay equipment division was sold out to another company so it"s not even the same company that makes the Duhz tractors any more.

Am I the only one that owns a mistake? What"s yours?

I'm not real impressed with this Meyer V-Max spreader. Works OK for sloppy manure, but that's about all. Runs awfully hard.

Oops. We have the same tedder. Its in the shop being repaired. James ranks it with the $400+ cub cadet chain saw that never ran.

Let's see, a Morra 4 rotor hydraulic-fold hay tedder.
Mobility 400 fertilizer cart (in its defense, it had a hard life at a Co-Op before it came here) but it's getting to be more time fixing it than using it . . . .

Ford 9N. I didn't own it, but worked on a small farm for two years where it was the main tractor for many projects. I know I will get slammed for saying this, but it was just junk. It wasn fairly well kept, but still, it just had no power, 3pt never worked right, and was always breaking down. To this day I would never go out and purchase any N series Ford with my own money no matter how many good folks on here recommend them. It may be able to do many things, but this tractor couldn't do a single thing well. It may have been just that one tractor that was bad, but like I said, I was far from impressed.

But mine are just plain worn out. They were built heavy but they are beat up. Definately the cause of the most heartache in haying season.

It used to be a JD 3010 gas, but that's someone else's problem now, or it's been melted down and/or shot full of holes.

Now I guess it's a NH 850 baler. The last season I used it I spent more time fixing it than I spent in the field. I still have it parked in the shed in case I need a backup baler or I feel like I need reminding of the improvements I've made in the quality of my life.

Another kid sneaking on to mommy's computer?
Obviously you either have never owned a 2 cylinder JD, or do not know how to maintain & operate them.
I just bush hogged 11 acres with my 1959 JD 730 D and it still out perfoms my uncle's newer JD diesel.

ME!! Never quite firing on all cylinders. Hard to start on cold mornings. Internal hardware and software completely out of date. Outdated paint job and dents in tin. I think a need a complete restoration.

Guess I didn't own her, but I was stuck with her for awhile, till I divorced her. Wouldn't work much & totally balked when hitched to a plow or hay wagon. Never could seem to get the hang of multitasking (cooking supper while in the field working).
Got a new one and after 38 years the 24 of this month, she has me trained pretty well LOL, Keith

Of course I'm joking about all except her having me trained.

Most disgusting, unreliable POS was the Acorn manure pump under the dairy barn. Seven years of crap with it before replacing with a Jamesway (Nesseth) that worked very well. Second place goes to either the Sukup (rhymes with...)stirator or Snowco conveyor- made out of material so thin it had only one side to it!

Well... Don't go buy a NewHolland 254 tedder/rake... or you'll be making a new nomination. That would be my first pick followed by the CanAm Outlander 400 XT Max bike we have.

Now you're making me think....

Last night I would have said our JD 425 lawn tractor. Was acting up and wouldn't run more than 15 minutes before quitting. I replaced the TDM today and hopefully fixed it, but it's too rainy out to cut more lawn.

For farm equipment, I'd have to go with the 1755 in the weeds. Was a money pit and finally blew the engine. We've now got an 1855 which has been fairly reliable, and much more so than the 1755 was.

Good one Keith
My first one took off like a bat outa ---- with warrenty still on her. Second ones holding a lot better - but needs a little maintenance after 15+ years.

The 2 cylinders were some of the best tractors ever made, when they quit making them I switched brands.

The one that just broke. Latest was the X-Mark 60" ZTR with 28 hp. EFI Kohler. Fuel tank switch valve broke. $72 for the new valve,$5 for the 6 hose clamps it took to install it while standing on my head. Think I could have replaced it with an electric valve for less money.

10 yrs ago , cant recall brand , but i think it was PZV basket teder/ rake . vermeer made something similar that almost worked ,/ but was a engineer gone mad invention ...///... there was no condition that suited it to where it would do a satisfactory job , NO MATTER HOW MUCH TLC took 15 minutes each time setup and adjusting .. after 2 yrs i traded it for a 3pt SUNSHINE RAKE ./. WHEEL RAKE
my worst equipment here can be transformed in to a fine productive piece of machinery ,if i only took the time to fix it ,,./.

(quoted from post at 14:36:12 05/07/10) It used to be a JD 3010 gas, but that's someone else's problem now
 I must have it now.......fits right in with all of my other problem equipment.
