Need to know what Roundup RTU uses as a carrier.

water mixed with roundup is worthless in 7 days. i wondered if someone knew what they mix in their RTU bottles for the dilutant or carrier.
i always use the surfactant 'synergise' and wonder if i could mix up a batch with those 2 and just add crop oil as the carrier.
thanks in advance

WHY do you need to mix water with Roundup 7 or more days in advance of spraying?????

lots of times i fill a spray bottle or even mix up a batch in the 14gal tank on my 4wheeler and don't get it sprayed out in the alott'd time! its then a hassle to dump it out and start over.

What makes the roundup worthless? Does it settle out with your surfactants? My mother always used to mix up a jug of Roundup and would pour it in a spray bottle as needed. Never had a problem and sometimes some would remain in the jug over winter and freeze. She would use it the next spring and it would work fine. Roundup is a salt that does not break down until it comes in contact with soil microbes.

Are you familiar with the Army's 5 "P" principles? As for it becoming 'worthless'.......I can't say that it doesn't for you, but........I used the stuff for years and years, both branded and generic, bought in 5 gallon cases and 30 gallon drums; was never a problem for me. Don't know what was the longest time it sat in a tank, but I'd just let it agitate for a minute and use it.

It's important to have CLEAN water with no silt or sediment in it as "dirt" deactivates Roundup.

Agreed! Was personal friends with the guy 'over' the water dept; when 'they' ran water lines through the county in the mid-60s, we got a commercial meter and 2 inch water line. Our nurse tank would fill in a matter of minutes; so short a time that you had to stand there by it. Never used anything but city water for crop spraying. When we had an orchard, there was a farm pond close to the orchard; we used pond water which we 'sucked up' with the John Bean sprayer; it was all insecticides which wouldn't settle out, but I only mixed what I was spraying that day and never let it set in the sprayer.

I always try to mix what I am going to use, but I have never seen Round Up go bad. It's very soluble in water, so it shouldnt settle out. I'm pretty sure I have used some mix that was 4-5 months old or better and still got good control. As others have said, hard water, dirty water, or excess chlorine can cause efficacy problems. The use of a water conditioner is money well spent if you question your water supply.

just to verify my question. what do they use in roundup RTU as a carrier? its not water.
i've been using roundup for 20 plus years and know how and when and why it works. I know all about water troubles. I just wanted to know what they mix in the RYU bottles?
thank you

I WAS WONDERING BUT AFTER READING i AM BETTING IT IS A WATER PROBLEM.. I MIX A PRETTY STRONG BATCH IN MY 30 GAL SPRAYER PUT IT IN THE RTV AND USUALLY USE IT ALL SUMMER. EITHER THE MOVEMENT OR THE RTV DAILY OR THE WATER KEEPS IT MIXED. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH IT GOING BAD
OVER THE PERIOD OF SEVERAL MONTHS. I MAY JUST BE LUCKY..
