i aquired a 3-point backhoe, problem is on the crowd cylinder, when you pull the cylinder in fast it acts like it gets air and will bounce for a second or 2, i can't picture how air can get in. maybe a relief valve ?? it's the only one that does it,...got me stumped, oh yea, the hoe is a LONG...

Are you 100% sure your not low in fluid??? That is probably the highest demand cylinder and being low on fluid will cause a problem like that

Yes, check the fluid. It could also be the control valve that causes it. On my skid steer, they had to install an optional anti-chatter damper on the back of the lift valve. Not every machine needed it and it was covered on warranty. Sometimes with just the right amount of travel on the control valve, the boom would start to shudder and shake. The damper stops it from happening. It might chatter once but not for several seconds like it used to. It was real annoying. Dave

I have a Kelley 40 and it would act like that. After a while it would load the engine down some and move slow and erratic. Turned out to be the piston seals allowing oil by. I rebuilt all the cylinders and it works like a champ now. PK

this thing digs great, good power, smooth operation, just that when the crowd is run out and you pull the lever to return it will free fall for 2 feet then bounce back couple times, only one that does it, just acts like it's full of air but returns to dig to quick in my mind, but then i'm no hydraulic expert...thanks

also look for cracked or loose lines and fittings. air will leak thru a crack under suction without showing a leak under pressure. oil molecules are bigger than air molecules.
