Another Farm Accident

Came over the news today an elderly farmer was pulling a tree along a ditch bank with his tractor, the police believe the trunk of the tree he was dragging caught on a huge stone on the bank and it flipped the tractor into the ditch pinning the driver..88 years old..I dunno, maybe he shouldn't have been doing that job but I remember my dad would tackle something without thought of his age or physical condition

At least he didn't spend the last years of his life in a nursing home. Know it isn't right, but that is the way I feel about it.

Still too bad. Miss those ole guys.

I almost died in a tractor accident in May 2005.
Was taking my last breathes until one of the
hired men came along. It is a quick way to go
and in a way almost beautiful. I do not have a
death wish, but if I have to go it is not all
that bad a way.

Good way to go at that age, it beats being locked up in a nursing ward.

whenever you can find a old farmer (85+) point a video camera at them, and ask them to tell you about life as they grew up. A wealth of history there.

Years ago(30)worked for my Grandma's brothers son for a short time. Grandma's brother was 80 some at the time and every few days we would take salt to different pastures and check cows. That old man was full of stories. Most of them about horses and working with them. I should of had a recorder. That old man was reliving his younger days and I could of wrote a book. Life had to be so much more interesting back then.

My oldest son asked a old timer what changes he saw in his lifetime. He thought for a little while & replied. Years ago people cooked indoors & went out to take a crap. Now we cook outdoors & crap in the house. How true!

Had the light but it was 2 months later. The
accident happened so fast there wasn't time for
any light.
Broke all my ribs on one side. The doctor's did
not realize one punctured the pleural cavity.
Worked but did not do anything strenuous for two
months. Got pneumonia gave me the wrong IV.
Almost died and was in a coma for 21 days and
I saw the light but not tunnel. Life altering
experience. Have never been so feeling so
peaceful in 50 years.
