"FarmerDevin" was asking where to find it..(Fiber Wheel Bearing Grease).

Last I got was right on the shelf of the auto parts store...

Is it hard to find now..?

Ron.

JC Whitney has it. It is called Heavy Duty Drum Brake Wheel Bearing Grease. It is Sodium Fiber Grease.

instead of that old fashioned outdated grease here is a good quality grease.METALON HI-TECH EP 1.5 GREASE. excellent stability through temperatures ranging from -40c to 300 degrees c. and its reversible, not like them old greases that leave the bearing and gets hard and dont come back.offers characteristics unmatched by lithium or other complexes.

Go to a heavy truck parts place and get bearing grease for wheels with disc brakes. Heavy truck as in 18 wheelers.

I have just been changing the tires on a 15 30 MD that I have been trying to retrieve to the shop. The inside bearing looks like it was greased with a modern wheel bearing grease and it was totally wore out.(1928 with lots of use). The thin modern grease seems to suck the dust into the bearings. In my search for a replacement bearing I took apart a front steering assembly from a early 30"s 22 36. The bearings would not fit but were in great shape. They had the old grease(waxy strand type) that sealed the bearing from the dust of the poor seals from those years.
IMHO
I still think there are places for the old grease yet.

18 Wheelers usually have front wheel bearings running in OIL..with a Sight-Glass, to check the oil level...

I have a tub of it I've had for years. I only use it occasionally. It's Amalie brand, NLGI #2
Red plastic tub.
