Tractor cab insulation

I just bought a 1655 Oliver with a Year Round Cab in good condition. The sound deadener in the ceiling is intact, but is missing from the lower sides. It does seem kind of loud in there.

Any good ideas for helping to quiet it down and dress it up a bit? Styrofoam? Foam rubber? What seems to work for you guys?

Option 1: take off that joke of a cab! Option 2: go to the agco dealer and buy some of the material and install it with spray glue.

No way will I remove the cab. I bought the thing primarily for use in snow removal with a blower in Wisconsin winters. I have had it up to here with sitting on a tractor in the wind while the blower turns me into a friggen snowman. Granted it is not a great cab, but a heck of lot better than nothing.

I'd spring for the cab kit. I'm about as far from the safety police on here as you can get but I did walk away from a bad cab fire. Unless its got fire retardant poly styrene insulation is a death trap. All it takes is an arc and spark, the fumes will get you before you get the door open. The regular cab foam will burn but it gives you some time before it starts supporting combustion.

You can buy some cab kits from Fehr Cab Interiors. Schoup Mfg has bulk foam by the foot- you cut it to fit, and glue it in place. I"ve done two tractors with Fehr kits, will do another tractor and a combine with theirs. Good cut and fit, glue included, fair (no pun intended) price.

No reason to- maybe the 64 Ford guy doesn"t know what it"s like to finish up Fall field work in rainy, snowy weather when the ground is freezing, and you want to get through 4 inches of frost before you can"t go anymore, or never plowed just feeling glad you had a HeatHouser on the tractor, or remember years before, growing up without even that much. My first one, a Hiniker 1300, 1973, was like your Year-Round, both made in Mankato, MN. First benefit was just being out of the wind, then, with a heater, could plow frozen ground in shirt sleeves in late November. Sure, the JD Sound Gard is extra nice now, but nothing wrong with the YR or H.

K & M Manufacturing makes a kit for Year-A-Round cabs. I have ordered several for a couple of customers and they say they work great.
