Half way to where ? OT

The post below reminds me of several discussions I have with my potential Son In Law .

He laughs and likes to say things referring to "old people" He has a very odd sense of humor. I'm 65 and most is pointed to me .

He thinks I'm over the hill cause I'm past 50.

Last week I said to him , " Where is half way?" meaning in age he figured 50 .

I said not so because over the hill means halfway to the age when you start needing a Dr. to keep you fine tuned or you will slowly fall apart.

He is 42 now and with feet and leg problems he spends his time working in his store, on cement 12+ hours a day.

I explained that he was over the hill Before me because his half way was 21. must have got him thinking. He was here this weekend and never mentioned about me being an old man .

By the way my "over the hill" started at 30. never had to Dr. till 60

If he falls off the twig before 84, then he is now past it also. Why do they keep picking on US.Some idiot has now suggested that Seniors have an S on their number plates. What next.??

Roy, I recall when I was a kid in my mind anyone over 30, especially 50 or 60 were olddddddddddddddddddd. Now I find the older I get I keep pushing that number UPPPPPP. Now I consider maybe over 80 or 85 old lol but give me a few more years and I will consider 99 old???

When I was just under 30, overheard a couple of my female soldiers talking about me that were 19 or 20... "Yea, I like him too,but he's so OLD".............

Guess I've been doing something right. 45 day after tomorrow and no routine meds (except a CPAP) and can count how many times i've been in a hospital or real sick without taking off my shoes.

Old guy a couple houses down the street is turning 87 in a little it and jogs/walks between 10 and 15 miles a day every day regardless of the weather. Was talking to him one day and he was in a Russian Prison Camp during the war along with a brother, cousin, and several school friends. He's the only one that left the camp and said he that after he lived thru that he would take care of himself and try to make up for the years the other guys had taken away from them........

JC must think it's a good idea because there doesn't seem to be an end in site.......Who knows what happens tomorrow though.

Over the hill has a different meaning to me and that is that you have lived over half your life expectancy, thus making it all about age.

I have longevity in my maternal and paternal lineage so I figure 50-55 is about right for me for becoming over the hill. My maternal aunt lived to be 105, maternal grandmother 98½, my dad 97 and the list goes on. Even my ancestors of the 1700s and 1800s far outlived the average life expectancy.

With modern medicine and health knowledge I expect my daughter and grandchildren to live to about age 120.

Over the hill---perhaps it is about quality of life and the enjoyment one has. If that is the case I may even live longer as I thoroughly enjoy life.

Well I am 67 & not over the hill yet. As you go over the hill, you speed up. I am not going any faster so I must not be over the hill!
