radial vs. non-radial

I know it isn"t a good idea on motor vehicles, but are there any problems running one radial with a non-radial on the back of a tractor that sees limited use and is rarely driven on the road? I have a good Goodyear Traction Torque 14.9x28 that I would like to put on my Massey 165. I know where there is a Goodyear Super Traction Radial that is like new. They have the same tread pttern. Thankyou.

Considering how some people use tires with totally different tread patterns, different sizes, ect, and don't have serious troubles, I'd expect you won't hardly even notice the difference. If you were using this as a tillage tractor, there might be somewhat of a problem. As a general purpose utility tractor, I'd bet you will be good to go. Worth a try anyway.

I run Farmall A for 20 years with one perfect 9.5 24 and the other slicker than a snotty doorknob. Never a pro blem

Biggest problem would be on hillsides. The Radial when on the lower side will tend to mash and walk off the hill. Very steep ground around here and radials crawl off the hill. Helps some to over-fill them with air.

I'd put the radial on the Left side..

When plowing, the Left rear always has more slippage than the furrow wheel..
Radials are said to bite better...

You couldn't give me a GoodYear radial... but the general idea will work OK. I've run new Michelin radials beside Titan bias until I got around to changing the other Titan. In some situations the radial will pull better and in some the bias will pull better. It just depends on the footing. Radials squirm a lot on hard footing so they are more willing to spin but they generally bite a LOT better in softer conditions.

Yep.... and I won't own either one. The possible exception being the GoodYear Dyna Torque II bias. Those are not a bad ~cheap~ tire if you want something to last and you don't necessarly expect a lot from a tire in terms of wear and traction/performance. Many of the the older GY impliment tires were also good.... but I've yet to see anything good come from the Armstrong/Titan line.

Every Titan/Armstrong we've had here has suffered from blown sidewalls.
