PTO shaft out of align

How much more will a U joint wear if about 10 inches off set from tractor to mower gear box? PTO shaft is about 30 inches long. Or will any more wear result from that off set. Thanks Stan

If it isn't making any noise I wouldn't worry about it....look at the driveshaft angle on some of these trucks....and they have a lot more horses put through them.

Think about it this way: Imagine tipping your whole tractor and implement over untill the shaft is in the conventional position.
It doesn't care. Main thing is that the shaft centerlines are parallel with each other.

I have run shafts at that offset and much worse for long periods with no problems. Some of my tractors are older tractors IH 574, MF 135 and others set up for vineyard use with smaller than normal tires. It makes for some odd drive angles on pulled equipment. If it runs smooth you will be Okay.

On some equipment that had very small low horsepower shafts I have upsized the shaft to get a little more angle clearance at the U-joint.

I also run PTO powered sawmil equipment, a Scragg mill, and at times the offset is more than that with no problems. Straight and level is better but you can't always get what you want.
