It reached 80d just a while ago here. At 6:57 tonight it's 36.4d.,wind chill 29.1d with snow flurries. We're supose to get 3"-5" north of the Mohawk Valley, 1"-3" south on high ground. The ground was white in north country this morning. The farmers on the middle ground (heavy clay) are just begnning to plow, but it is still wet. Sometimes it's early July before they can plant corn. (not much of a growing season) Soil is still cold. Did see a few fields showing signs of oats sprouting on the high and river ground though. Hay fields are green but not bolting by any means. The weather man in Albany NY said it will be 76d on Thursday, probably 70d here 50mi. west.Begining to question what the definition of normal weather is!!. At least today; so much for Global Warming. Thursday????

Supposed to be a hard freeze here in Mid Michigan tonight too, down around 26 they say. A lot of corn in the ground here, but not any of mine. Last spring full moon isn't til May 27. Could very well have frost then. Corn's OK getting nipped if it's small enough to be growing off the seed, but if some of this stuff that's been in for a few weeks now gets up and gets whacked, there's gonna be some replanting going on.

My Grand Dad used to refer to "Fly Date". Has this any thing to do with the last freeze? May be all wet on this as it has been 50+ years ago since I have heard of this???

Weather is similar to life. Most of us want to get in our comfort zones and think that it all works that way all the time.
Weather can do basically almost anything, anywhere, at any time. You can average rain fall, snow fall, and any demensions that you like, but it does not matter to Mother Nature.
If we lived long enough, most of the "strange weather" that we have "never seen before" would have been seen by us at some point.
Then you get the fanticals that try to claim every "strange event" means the Lord is coming, some of them even use it to stoke the flock to give extra money.
This past winter we had more snow and colder weather than we have had in years, but if you go back far enough, it did not come close to any record.
