Here a few of the old D4 7U Cat.The first picture is on the spot I got stuck with the 2+2 IHC.I took it straight on to show the steep hill. Our hillside combines don't level up on this hill.Hope you like the pics.BlaineF(WA)

BlaineF, that looks suspiciously like Palouse country. Are you any where near Jim Redman's place outside of Palouse?

Regarding that first pic, now that is what I call steep! Apparently you get very little rainfall in the area. If I tried tillage like that, with no plant residue, my hills would all wash away!

y question exactly........why no gullies on those slopes?

I'm in Spokane County,WA.Don't know Jim,but the palouse is a large place.Average rainfall around 17-19 inches.

(quoted from post at 15:12:41 04/26/10) great pictures but wondering why use a track (slow) tractor for such small equiment?
Thanks again

Tracks don't leave deep tire tracks in the loose dirt.Cat craws alone the hills better.Planting Camelina and Alfalfa did'nt want the deep tracks from tires.Rollers are 40 feet and drills 22 feet still have to down shift pulling the hills .Air cleaner is high to get it out of the fine dust.Exhaust vents over your head.Thats my theory anyways.Mostly use wheel tractors for most things. Thanks BlaineF(WA)

My guess would be to get the exhaust well over the operators head and to get the intake well above the dust that may be whipping around. Just my guess, odd looking though.
