OT fact tack in chevy pu

I have a 1968 chevy 4x4 that I am rebuilding and have a good question to ask. The truck has a factory tack in it and I am going to put a 292 6 cyl in it with electronic ignition will the tack work with this set up? Its been a long time since I worked on one like this and just cant remember if it will work. Any info would be great. Thanks Bandit

I think your tack is mechanical off the distributor. Thats same as my 68 vette which my son restored. I would be intersted in buying the distributor and tack if you would wish to sell it 812 699 0011 Thanks

No, its an electric tack and truck was a V8 years ago. I just cant remember if a 6 cyl and V8 used the same tack and if the electronic ignition would work on this tack. Bandit

A V-8 and 6 cyl. tach are not compatible. It will probably work (but not correctly) if you connect it to the negative side of the coil, though.
