John Deere GT275 Starting problems

Help!! I also have a JD GT275 which I have starting problems with. It ran well last year but not now. Initially it would start but as soon as I tried to move, it would die. Sometimes I was able to creep slowly forward at low speeds. I suspected a fuel problem so I done the following
1) cleaned out the gas tank (there was some crud in it), 2) new fuel, 3) replaced all the fuel lines, 4) new filter, 5)cleaned out the bowl at the bottom of the carb. & 6) blew out the carb.
While doing this i notice the carb bowl float initally was a little sticky but after a few cycle it seem to move free. The gas shut off solonoid does not retact on its own when power applied , if depressed it does hold the pin down...is this normal. I saw somewhere a person cut the pin off in lieu of replacing it ??? What problems does this cause in doing this??

After putting it all back together it is not running any better... with the throtle full it starts but dies after 10-15 sec Something I can get to run a little longer by reducing the throttle to slow.
ANY Ideas???? I really can't afford to take it to a dealer

If the fuel shutoff solenoid is not pulling the pin back on its own then it will not let enough fuel by it to run, replace it.I am a mower tech for a John Deere dealer and most of the problems I deal with are fuel related.

Does anyone have a troubleshooting or cleaning guide for the carb?? I have seen the Parts detail on the JD site but it does not say what the various items are.
Note I was able get the solonoid pin to stay retracted but still not running

Doug is correct in his statement about fuel being the number one problem. If you cut the pin off of the solenoid the carburetor will not be able to be adjusted right. Did you remove the carburetor and disassemble it??? If you just blew through it, that is not good enough with this new gas. It leaves a sticky film on the surface of things. You have to use carb cleaner and a brush. I had a push mower drive me nuts until I removed the needle valve and wiped it with a rag. I usually just sprayed the whole dissembles carb, parts and all, let it set a while and blow off. I found out that this new fuel will not come all off just by spraying and blowing off with air. I now use an old tooth brush and scrub everything I can. This seems to work much better.
Also change your spark plug. I have seen a plug do funny things when hot on small motors.

My Kubota 3 cyl. was doing the same, a mower repair man told me it was the newer gas and it was and was making it stick. Told me about every 3 tanks of gas to put 1 can of 2 cycle oil in gas tank. Been great since

I fixed the Gas solonoid problem and now it starts and runs AS long as no load is applied (moving or blades) I can move it if i go very slow.

Adjustuing the throttle from fast to slow appears tio work fine BUT if I then try to increase it, it kills the engine? Manually adjusting the govenor control seem to function correctly?

Any ideas would be welcomed

UPDATE: With the throttle set to slow if the govenor control is advanced slowly the engine responds BUT if move quckly it dies
