Tractor Shows and Wrecker Yards

Hi guys,
Flying in to Seattle on 14 July 2010 and spending around 18 days driving east probably across Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and maybe the Dakotas. We want to do the usual vacation things seeing the sights and scenary of your country, but of course wouldn't want to miss out on the odd tractor show or tractor wrecker yard. Any suggestions for interesting places to visit or things to see would be very much appreciated.
Previous visits and suggestions made have always resulted in us seeing some amazing sights and meeting great people.
Thanks

Don't know much about tractor shows out that way but if you are going to the Dakota's the Black Hills are a must see. Custer State Park,Mt.Rushmore and Deadwood all very nice. Lot's of junk yards in the Dakota's. The wife and I are thinking about going to N.D. this summer to look for a cab for a 1950 ford pick-up.We hope you enjoy yourself in the states.Hope you like wide open spaces!

Lots to see in the West.
Mt. Rainier, Grand Coulie Dam, Dry Falls, The Palouse, Deer Lodge Prison Museum, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Hell's Canyon and a lot of great scenery in between...We did all of these except Glacier in 10 days two years ago.
There is a great tractor show while you are here at Brooks,Oregon. The Great Oregon Steam up is July 24-25 and July 31-August 1. Another possibility if you want to travel south of Seattle instead of Eastis the Oregon Coast is quite scenic if you enjoy rugged coast lines, the Redwoods and Crater Lake, Mt. St. Helens, Bonnevlle Dam, Multnoma Falls,. Contact me if you have any questions about Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana. Enjoy your trip!

Too bad you arent coming to the central parts as there are shows every week end tons of salvage yds just isnt that much tractor stuff in the NW.

The Toavs collection has a website. The website says the collection is to be auctioned on July 16 and 17 at the farm northwest of Wolf Point. Somewhere else I've read that Mr Toavs owned the very first Model "R" John Deere diesel serial number 1000. There is an "R" listed on the auction sale bill as NT (no tag) so it could be that very first "R". Interesting!

The "Steamup" at Antique Powerland in Brooks Oregon (just north of Salem Oregon) is the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August.
Has just about any kind of tractor you can think of, in addition to Stationary engines, steam engines, Old Trucks etc.
Salem is about 50 miles south of Portland.

West is beautiful, but you'll see more and get more bang for your buck East of the Mississippi.
I made the trip from Ohio to Washington State (few miles south of Seattle) 3 times, once on I70 to I5 North and once each on I80 and I90. Wouldn't trade those days and sites for anything, but you can see a lot of the east in a day compared to a day in the west. Have fun on your trip though and try not to ruin it by a schedule.
