Planting Sweet Corn - 2010

Planted the first of the sweet corn a couple of days ago. I thought some of you might like to see the old outfit.
I"m still gathering parts for the 290 but I still hope to get it painted one of these days.

What is that small funnel shaped hopper on the planter for?

Is that a roll of wire on the planter? If so what is its function? I"ve heard about it on check row planters, but never seen one equipped that way. Thanks, Erik.

Teddy,
The funnel shaped hopper is an Insecticide Attachment (see attached drawing). I was lucky enough to find it at a local auction three or four years ago. It was in very good condition; probably laying in a barn for years (still had a little heptichlor in it). Up to that point I had never seen the real thing; only the picture in the Operators Manual.

I have a set of NOS flexible metal spouts but I"m not going to install them untill I get the planter painted.
