Flushing oil pan on diesel

Wondering what others do when flushing the oil system on their diesel engines? I once flushed a gas engine and about two weeks later large chunks of deposits in the oil pan came loose and plugged the oil pump.
Want to avoid this.
So what is the best way to flush an oil system, safely?

Why flush it at all? Just use a good grade of high detergent oil.

I agree with msb, just change the oil when it gets dirty, and it with clean itself.
