Monsanto Seed Corn

A friend of mine says that Monsanto has had laws passed making it mandatory that farmers buy their seed , other Hybrids are not allowed for sale. I am very skeptical , can someone straighten this out ??

Monsanto owns the patents on most GMO crops. If you buy seed from any breeder that has any of Monsanto's traits in it you have to pay Monsanto a technology fee. If a farmer thinks that use'n other traits, other chemicals, more tillage, or a garden hoe are in thier best intrest they can plant any seed they want. There are still conventional seed out there one can buy, even some organic if a person wants to go that route.

In other words a person can plant any thing want but if you use Monsanto's traits they want their money.

Isn't this something that might constitute an
antitrust issue. One company profits unfairly
if it has technology that benefits the whole
American population.
I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for years. I saw this pulled with prescription drugs
When I finally woke up I quit. Drug companies
that make minor changes to the same drug and seem to end up with a patent that never expires.
My wife and I take a lot of prescription drugs
an we buy all of them at half price from Canada,Germany, and India

Say wat you want they may be crminals but I sure do like planting round up ready corn..Our profits are about $34.00 per acre more on the RR
Would not want to go back to the OLD way.Got a little over 4,000 acres of it in the ground..
Till there is something better you just have to pay their price..

That's not true, of course.

Monsanto is a big business & looks for ways to get bigger, to gather stuff for itself, as any business does.

Some folk are neutral, some hate them, but there is no such law or any in the works. That's bularnky.

You hit the nail on the head. Competitors will only let you keep the golden egg for so long. Something else will be along shortly. They are making hay while the sun shines, as anyone would.

Really liked the Ignite/ Liberty Link beans I tried last year, trying more this year.
