Ok what are these things

Picked these up with a bunch of other stuff a week or 2 ago. So what are they. They have a place on one end to air them up and sort of look like at one time they where in a coil spring or something.
Thanks

They are once common "air bags" that were indeed placed inside coil springs to increase load carrying capacity.

I put a set in ny 64 Impala SS in the late 60s but removed them after a short while because they caused wheel hop when drag racing.

After the introduction of air shocks, air bags faded into oblivion.

You just answered your own question I think..... I coulda put them to good use a couple weeks ago but I bought new coils already.

Shoot by the time I had them boxed up and tried to send them to you you would probably still be waiting for them and that would have been if I sent them in March LOL

You can still get airbags. Firestone makes them for a lot of trucks. Look at all the semi's that use them as well. Dave

thats what they are, i had a set on the front of a ford f150 for when it had the snowplow attached, slick rig, with the bags aired up and 1,000 lb weight in the back that was the best plow truck i had out of the 3

Hi Dean: Right on. I put them on my 1973 ElCamino SS, back in 1975, to be able to haul a bigger heavy load. They helped. ag

Well, there's an extension cord, an air line, a dented in plastic oil jug, and a piece of styrofoam.

Oh, and some black rubber thingies in the lower right.

Glad I could help.

Same idea. Air springs are good on the hwy. but not for off road, especially gravel trucks. They will get stuck easier and also tip over if the air isn't let out to lower the truck before dumping. Dave
